Moon Photography: July 27, 2007 Moon Over Aurora

The Earth's surface changes every hour; the grass and trees are growing. The water washes away the land; streams dry out; lakes dry out. Just endless change—that is life on Earth.

The Moon is not like that. The moon is dusty and full of craters and never changes. The surface crust remained almost the same for billions of years. The only change we will ever see is if a meteorite hits the moon's surface and creates a new crater. The only life on the moon ever encountered was when Apollo astronauts landed on the Moon in 1969, and because the Moon does not have an atmosphere, the set of human footprints was left untouched.
