Today Hiking Trip's - Itchy and Scratchy

Finally, we were able to take a morning hike after painful home renovations. We spent most of our summer time outside biking, hiking, and stargazing, so the renovation part was very hard to handle. Myself and my husband always do almost everything together, including any local hiking. We also work together, but this is a whole different story.

Today, we decided to do more bird watching than biking. We made a few stops. The first one started almost with nothing, but we patiently waited until we saw a Crow chasing a Red-Tailed Hawk, and then we got a perfect photo shoot of the baby Cedar Waxwing that allowed me into territory as close as 1.5 meters. I am sure that this was a Cedar Waxwing, but I will have to confirm that later.

On the way home, we ended up watching a complete Great Blue Heron show—I mean, a real show—at the McKenzie Marsh in Aurora, Ontario. At first, we saw three Great Blue Herons on the tree West of the marsh, and as we got to the observation deck, this is the list that we were able to see at the same time: 7 Great Blue Herons, 2 White Egrets, 2 Cormorants, 4 Caspian Terns, Unlimited Mallard Duck, 1 Swan, 1 Killdeer, 1 Sandpiper, and many other small birds like Starlings, Swallows, and Red-Winged Black Birds—this was such a heaven of birds.

We were able to capture some great photos of Great Blue Herons flying, and I will be making a separate post about that. However, I got a couple of Itchy and Scratchy theme photos on the way home from the exciting bird-watching trip.

Enjoy and laugh.

so cool to see these photos!!

I get worried sometimes that the natural world is vanishing. I'm sure it is, but it's nice to know that it might not be vanishing as quickly as I fear.

nice blog!
