When you start seeing yellows, reds, and spider webs that fall is around the corner. My favourite seasons are spring and fall. I enjoy the summer and winter also, but it seems like spring and fall have the perfect temperature balance, which I can handle. However, if I put the temperature factor aside, each season is unique and brings me something different to photograph.
This weekend, during a long weekend, on Sunday we were able to get through our regular 3–4 hour bike route, and on Monday we packed stuff and drove to Presqu'ile Provincial Park, Brighton, Ontario. Just to emphasise, this year I started to focus more on bird photography. The reason was that birds are always around; how many times can you go bear watching or moose watching? I bet you will agree that it is a more specialised task. However, if a bear comes around, he or she will become my focus point.
As I mentioned, fall is around the corner, and birds are migrating, so even though Presqu'ile Park is on every bird watcher's list, we didn't find many birds. But I was lucky to observe a quite large woodpecker - the Pileated Woodpecker.
Beside bird watching and beautiful sandy beaches along Lake Ontario, the month of August is the peak for Monarch butterflies, and I missed it. In August, about 10,000 of them are clinging to the tree branches, resting before their long 3,700 km trip to Mexico. However, some of them are still around and hovering over the flower beds.

I love your butterfly and the red leaf picture, GREAT shots!
I wish we would have down here also the four seasons! I'm missing that so much, since I'm here in the subtropics, to see the first flowers in springtime and to see the colorful forests and trees changing in fall and soon the first snow falling in winter in the mountains!!
Sometimes I think I'm getting always a little bit "homesick" to Switzerland, looking to all those wonderful pictures....:-)
Hugs, JJ...who's back from the dentist and what seemed like a whole day at the hair salon.
After that, I have Alaska for Penguins and Wood Buffalo National Park on my menu.
Anna :)
Yesterday in Switzerland we came from summer to autumn in one night, the temparature has dropped and the colors are changing. I like this season too specially for its great range of colors, leafs, different sunsets, and so on...
it's not just the landscape...it might be a little political.
oops...did i actually say that?
(DON'T TELL)
