Squirrel The Explorer

At one point, we travelled to Cape Breton National Park, the Cabot Trail, and Nova Scotia, Canada. It was one of our last hiking trails—a very short one. We were looking for moose, and that trail was identified as having them around. Well, to our surprise, there was no sign of moose, but lots of signs of them being around—moose droppings and foot prints.
So how does this relate to the squirrel? Well, as we were about to leave that trail, we were kind of disappointed, and as we were checking the map to find out what else was left, this fellow came around. It was funny how he entered from the bottom of the garbage and kept running in and out, and lucky me to have my camera ready.

Thanks Rose. It was more sweet to see it in real life. Too bad was only for couple of minutes. Anna :)

Awww...cute pic! Haven't thought about the Cabot Trail in years! Spent almost every summer as a kid camping it with family...what a road trip - much like Chevy Chase's family vacation! :)

You caught him perfectly!

We went to Nova Scotia on our honeymoon many years ago - we hope to get back there someday - it was so gorgeous!
Great shot, Anna!!!

I finally saw a moose last year as it waded in the shallow water in Lake Superior. I had been wanting to see one for years. Their footprints are photo worthy!!! :D

Hugs, JJ

Hey Anna,

So cuteeee!!! The shot is well taken!

I loved your comment on my post: thank you! I loved its final touch where you say that although catholic you also implement some buddhist aspects in your life :). Do you follow the eightfold path?

Cheers

Anna,

No need to thank me for visiting your blog: I love both of them :)!

The eightfold path (yes, look it up, you'll find it interesting) is a buddhist path that seems to present the way for liberation, freedom (Nirodha) from desires (which are the root of dukkah - pain, suffering).
I have no religion, but I am extremely spiritual, and, like you, I try to read a lot about it, and I implement in my life the things that make sense :).

I also do Tai Chi Chuan, and Yoga (it's great)! I have a secret passion for Martial arts, but I have never practised any...

Cheers

Hi Anna;

Cute squirrel, on the weekend I hiked the Baden Powell trail here on the Pacific coast (Vancouver), no moose but 3 bears…
Anna, cute squirrel photo. You are so lucky for taking photo ; ). I never have squirrel photos. They are so quick that I have few chances to catch them into my digital camera : )

DrowseyMonkey this was my first time at Cabot Trail, I found out about if from TV when CBS or CBC was nominating 7 wonders of Canada. It was great trip, however, we had rainy days. Anna :)

Hi Kathy, Nova Scotia is beautiful, planning to go back one day to explore more, it felt like I saw a lot, but then when I look at the map Cabot trail is small, Anna :)

jj, lucky you. I saw few in Nova Scotia, but they were far away. We also saw young one in the swamp, you should see my husband looking for wooden stick right away, lol, and saying where there is a baby there is a mother also. I was laughing all the way to the car. It was fun. Anna :)

Thanks Max as always. Anna :) Will have to check out on eightfold path, as I mentioned on your blog.

Max, again thanks for returning my comment and info on the eightfold path, sounds interesting. Glad you do tai-chi and yoga. I did yoga also, but it is hard for me to fit into schedule these days. However, if I ever had choice, I would want to learn tai-chi before martial arts, it is always hard to strike at slow motion, or do things in slow motion. With speed you can hide all the imperfections. Anna :)

Livingsword, so you just had to tease me with 3 bears, lol. Thanks for posting. Anna :)

DigitalShutterMania I know what you mean, I was lucky to have my camera at that time, otherwise, I don't think I would have this photo. Thanks. Anna :)

Susanne, hey no squirrels at your place, lol. You want some, I can send them over, lol, we got lot of black ones, then grey ones and very rarely red ones. They like to place nuts in the corners around the house, or especially windows. It looks funny, I have seen it at my parents in law. Anna :)

Anna,
I see that like Livingsword, you maintain a dialogue here...I'll have to pay attention to it!
Martial arts...a wish from the past, I am afraid, I'll stick to tai chi :).

Cheers

Hi Anna;

I was just taking another look at the cute little rodent and I realized that if you had not written what was going on it could look like the door was going to hit him in the caboose and send him flying! A hard way to become a flying squirrel!

Hi Max, thanks for visiting again. Sometimes I am not sure if people come back to read reply comments, so I leave some answers on others blogs. Then on the other hand it its fun looking around. Anna :)

livingsword, looks we got the full bridge build between our blogs. Yeah I found your blog very interesting, and I think we clicked, its nice to get that connection rightaway. It was the same with Max. So thanks for the link also, glad that I was first, lol. BTW great analysis of the photo, its always good to have second opinion, lol, I never really looked at it from that perspective, may be because I knew what happened. Anna :)

Hi Anna;

I think that is a big part of the fun with blogging, various perspectives provide stimulation of thought and community.

What a cute little fellow. The coloring of the garbage container really enhances the pic. I like squirrels.
