The Lion King in Canada

Meet the lion in Canada. He is living at the zoo only. The African Lion Safari Zoo is the zoo where you can go and drive through fields where all the exotic animals are.

We were able to drive close to the lions, but the guards would not allow us to open the windows. We kept the windows closed at all times. I would not take any chances; however, I was able to take this photo. I guess I was lucky that the car windows were clean. However, some people around us kept opening windows, and the zookeeper kept yelling at them. I could not believe that it took more than five calls to have one car close its windows.

Anna, there are only 2-3 open zoos in Thailand but they don't let go too close to animals. Your lion is too sleepy. Anyway I love this photo.

He is beautiful, Anna! And I can't believe it is through a window. I love the way his paws hang over the edge, and he is sitting there like he owns the whole place and knows it. Excellent capture!!

Hi Anna,
I love this picture! Very great shot! He looks so peaceful - he had breakfast already, I guess, when you came by...:-)
Anna,
Such a majestic photo of one of my all-time favorite animals! I just love it. You'd never know it was shot through the car window. Cindy at Rosehaven Cottage

Regal is the word that comes to mind. He looks so healthy too. Wonder how old he is? Beautiful picture.

Here in Oregon we have a similar place, Wildlife Safari. They have guards in the lion enclosure also.

He is a magnificent fellow. You get to see lions more often than I do in Africa.
I still need to find them at the Addo Elephant National Park. They were reintroduced recently and are seen quite regularly.

Digitalshuttermania, thanks. Same here, they zoo rangers guard them all the time. Now that you mention, it was also rainy day, so may be the lion was too relaxed, lol. Anna :)

Hi Kathy, and thanks. I was saying the same, the trick is that it has to be side window, the front window because is tilted distorts more. I have actually more photos, if you recall the monkeys I posted before were also through the window. The other trick is the zoom lens, I have 100-400mm, so I guess anything up close is ignored. Susanne, thanks, I think they did have breakfast, some of them were actually walking between the cars. Scarry if you have window opened, lol. Anna :)

Cindy, thank you. Once I had three year old Rosie with me and the funny thing she kept calling the big lion, a baby lion, lol. Anna :)

Very nice. You can't beat a lion for a subject. I would love to paint one some day. Very nice composition. I love how you frame your subjects. I believe the greatest beauty is found in simplicity. Ansel Adams was a master at it.
