Butterfly Dinner Time

I didn't even remember that I had this photo. What I do remember is that it was taken at the Toronto Zoo in Scarborough, Ontario. The Toronto Zoo has many cool pavilions full of different species from around the world—yeah, and I've got the butterfly photo to show you, lol. However, this specific photo was taken at one of the pavilions, a very small building that is full of birds, butterflies, and a lot of tropical plants. Guess what that means? It was hot and humid.
However, it was not that hot and humid when I was at the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, visiting the Rainforest Pavilion. The second we entered the rain forest area, our clothes were automatically soaked in moisture. It was very hot and humid. I am glad that there were no bugs falling off the trees.

This is a great pic of the butterflies! I always find butterflies very hard to get on camera, of course being at the zoo would help though :)

Nice picture, Anna. I did not know that they would be attracted to fruit like that.

I have been in a couple of butterfly enclosures at zoos. Always a real neat experience.

I did plant a couple of "butterfly" bushes a few years ago. I forget their Latin name, but they do really attract them when the flowers are out.

David thank you for your comment. Sometimes in the zoo can also be a challange, because of all the people passing, kids pointing at them. I find it that it is easier to photograph them in the open. I went once to butterfly sanctuary, and another challange is handling the heat and humidity. Thanks for visiting again, it is appreciated. Anna :)

Hi Will, yes butterflies like sweet too, I think they drink nectar as other nectar drinking insects. I will think about what you said about the butteryfly bush, may be I will plant one in front of my house to attract more pretty insects, lol. Thanks again, Anna :)

Hi! Love the photo. While I'm here I'll let you know that my lovely wife brought me a Fuji FinePix
S8000fd digital camera yesterday for Christmas. I'm allowed to use before then but I have to wrap it up again so Santa can put it under the tree.

So watch out, you may (a big maybe) have some competition. Then again maybe not depending how things turn out.

Hi Peter, this is an excellent camera and an excellent gift from your wife, lol, you have to put it back for xmas, I tell you it will be hard to do that once you find out how nice it is, or you already did. I read quick review on it, and sounds like you are going to have lots of fun. Today's in digital photography it is hard to compete, because you don't even have to have a skill to photograph, it is all timing and patience, object chasing, and don't forget luck sometimes - and then in addition if you play with your camera features, you will be even more successful. I bet you are going to have lot of fun, and will probably have beautiful images to show. Competition or not competition, I love photographs of others, because where you live I probably will never be able to see in naked eyes, so I will be waiting for your photos now too, in addition to your great posts. I am so happy for you....I think you will bring another dimension to your blog. Anna :)
