Over the months I became friends with different bloggers, meaning not just photographers but people who blog about their interests, their love for nature, their family, their wellness, their occupation, and their beliefs, and it is hard to believe that yet we can all share many of the same thoughts, communicate, express, and understand each other. After all, we are humans, just with different tastes.
When I started blogging, it involved two things: expressing your thoughts through writing, through images, or both. You don't have to be a photographer to express yourself through images, because with the power of digital cameras, you can share your hobbies, show us your garden, replay your trip, and show your old photo archives that, if it weren't for you, would be forgotten. And when you are a photographer, you always capture something that others dream of or have experienced in the past. A few days ago, I received a very nice photo gift (above) from David Leonard, a photographer from Switzerland. I guess I had a very good attendance record on his blog. It was very nice of David to actually do that, and what was nice too was that he gave me something unexpected that reminded me of my childhood. I am not sure what it is, but once we are older, we like to go back in time and talk about those good old times. I guess it may be a fear that we are getting farther from being children and that we may one day forget—something that I couldn't do—but for me, it is a reminder of the freedom of being a child. Not to make you cry with all this sentimental stuff, but what is so special about a donkey and a white cow?
My grandmother, whom we used to visit for summer vacation, had donkeys. It was always exciting to see a donkey, especially when every cartoon and every movie in the country would make fun of them. When I went to Greece for my honeymoon and visited Santorini, the most beautiful Greek Island, we missed our donkey ride because we lost our tickets. But then, when we saw others going down on the donkey, we were really glad that we took the cable car down.
Then comes the white cow, and what is so special about the white cow? Well, it is white, and I hardly ever see any. In fact, I am so stacked on the black and white cows that any other cow body colour seems very unusual to me. And to let you in on a little secret, I used to be scared of cows, but I think it had to do with them being bigger than me. But then how do you explain that my younger 5-year-old sister then treated them as pets or even took care of them? So David, I would really like to thank you for this unexpected gift, and hopefully some of you can visit his blog and explore the wonders of his imagination.
Lastly, the next day David posted another image, and that image is something that I lived through, and now it is my dream to have it again—a perfect view of yellow wheat fields with a summer blue sky filled with puffy sheep-like clouds, all to be visible from my window. Our neighbors across the road have a donkey named Elvis. That guy make the loudest, most entertaining "he-haws" every time they get home or if he sees them with something he wants. It is a very endearing sound.
One day several years ago he got out and was walking down the road. I came across him and put a rope around his neck to lead him back home. Ha! The joke was on me! They are so strong it is unbelievable, even compared to a horse or a cow. He was very gentle, but was obviously going to go where he wanted to, not where I had in mind. I had to sweet talk him, scratch his ears, etc. to get him headed back home. Even then it took me about 30 minutes to go 200 yards! We were able to send a child to get his owner and when she came out she whispered something in his ear and he went right home with her.
I think they are actually quite smart.

I'm off to visit David's site!
This was such a gorgeous post: thank you for sharing it with us :)!
I have seen a white cow, and beige, and brown (when I lived in France): they are so cute!!! Donkeys...never rode one, but I can imagine why you weren't sorry for having lost the ride LOL LOL LOL.
David's photos are great, indeed! I'll visit his blog [I have learned that following your suggestions is good] :)!
That field is so peaceful...I loved it!
Cheers
I edited my story, in honor of your funny comment.
He he.

So glad that you are enjoying my suggestions, and I am enjoying the email follow up option, lol. Anna :)
BTW Thanks for the award, I know I seen it somewhere on my blog, just have to find it, lol. I felt a bit behind, just too many things happening right now, may be one day all will come out, lol.
Interesting article…your words about thinking back to your childhood stood out to me as I have been pondering some of those memories when writing the most recent article on my blog.
I think that perhaps time romanticizes things a bit but of course typically childhood required less responsibility then does adulthood and that can be a nice thought to cocoon in when the pressures of life beset us.
My wife and I loved Santorini…but our favorite Greek island is Crete…so much so that we went back a second time (the south west corner of the island is unbelievable)
The cable car ride was easier than the donkeys but I have a soft spot for donkeys...
Oh by the way…
….you are “it” tagged “it” that is…an interesting question for you…

So...you have been following the comments, ey lol :)?
It is quite all right, even I only post when I have at least two awards (cause it is too tiresome to be posting all the time...and I lack time lol lol)!
No need to thank me :); you deserve it (I think I have said this before lol)!
You think aloud? Anna, you need to stop thinking before bed...relax and sleep *tender face*!
Cheers
So you been to the same place I have been, I visited Crete also, and I really liked it especially the history. We visited Santorini in afternoon last day of the cruise. The softness of the sun set the escarpment, and the white buildings to its most amazing view. We also visited some ruins, and we had this very funny tour guide, almost like Indiana Jones, very entertaining that it was hard to pay attention to the ruins, and that was unforgettable too. I will be back also.
Lastly, thanks for tagging me, and I will be coming out with my 'own' proudest moments soon, lol, as we already had this discussion.
Thank you for writing so much, always enjoy reading your comments. Anna :)
And I don't think you need to feel guilty, I bet the cows loved it. Not me, lol, but my sisters and my brother used to go and sit on top when they were lying down, I tell you the cows were like dogs, very gentle with kids. BTW I just imagined you running after the cow, that looks like a perfect setting for a photo. Thanks again for your comments and sharing your memories, Anna :)
PS Comment follow up is great, I hope google employees can hear me, lol.
LOL I see... :)! So, you are practically transparent, huh? lol.
Were you ever caught off guard (when trainning and executing punches)?
"I will take your advice, thanks, Anna" - don't mention it :-D!
"PS Comment follow up is great, I hope google employees can hear me, lol." - I think you have to speak a little louder lol :).
Cheers
"Just talking aside, after 3-4 year break in training, I decided to train again, but I had bad experience with the instructor, meaning he pushed me to the limit, and that was turning point in my martial art studies." - you won't probably believe me but I had a similar experience with a swimming instructor *nodding*...the man used to make me swim 5km a day (and I wasn't in for competition). I had to tell him that I was paying the club to keep fit (and improve my technique) and not to go to the Olympics LOL LOL...the man was a lunatic *nodding*...
"It was time to look at something else, and that is how I found my current instructor, that I wished I had at the beginning of my early years." - thank God you did find a better one :)...and I bet it was in the exact right time for you.
" After all I don't regret because everything happens for reason," - how true, how true...this is exactly what I keep telling people around me *nodding*. Such a simple truth which most aren't willing to accept.
"so may be one day when I get that true connection between mind, body and spirit, I will be back." - I am on that exact quest, Anna. Besides doing Tai Chi, I now have started practicing Yoga...I was a bit suspicious of it, but now I truly believe in the Yogi cause lol lol...
However I also meditate a lot; so I hope to become Zen pretty soon lol :).
"Thanks, and see what you did, got me going, lol, more life stories. Anna :)" - yeah, I do that sometimes...I get people to talk lol lol. Anyway, it's a pleasure talking to you *bowing*! I love life stories...don't be fooled by my "over serious" articles lol...
Cheers
BTW for those who subscribed to this post, this is just girl talk, lol, but you can learn - enjoy!
It is mighty crazy!!! I just felt like vociferating at the man lol *nodding*.
I still have a long way to go...perhaps when I reach my mom's age I'll be zen lol lol :).
You are most welcome, dear :)! LOL it's ok...
Girl talk rocks lol!
