The Big Eared Deer Is a Kudu Cow

This is just a weekend post to inform you that the deer in my earlier post, "Oh Deer, These Are Big Ears," is actually a Kudu Cow (Tragelaphus Strepsiceros), an antelope. Thanks to Max-e from South Africa for giving me this hint; otherwise, I wouldn't know where to look. Maybe I would have just gone back to the zoo. Here is his photo of the Kudu Cow, and he doesn't have to go to the zoo to see it because it is very common in his area.

Unfortunately, Max-e had a heart attack a couple of days ago. The good news is that Max-e is on the way to recovery. For those who know Max-e from my blog, his progress has been updated by Suzie-k, and there is some information on Max-e's own blog. I wish Max-e a fast recovery.
Blogging is turning out to be real life, where good news and bad news are shared worldwide. About a month ago, Peter from Scruffyhippos Blog also had a heart attack. We are all patiently waiting for his speedy recovery; however, no word has been said about his recovery. I hope all is well.

Sorry to leave you with this sad news for the weekend, but we must all remember that behind blogging, we are not just bloggers or virtual friends; we are real people. Have a good weekend, all of you.

Hi Anna;

I loved your words:
“behind blogging we are not just bloggers or virtual friends we are real people.”

I enjoy the raw humanity you bring to your thoughts, and appreciate the sense of friendship and community that you foster, those are admirable qualities.

I may not personally or even virtually know either person you have spoken of but thru your care and words I have then prayed for them, this means you have provided an opportunity for me to care for another and for this I thank you.

Livingsword, thank you for your kind words, it really means a lot to me. It is absolutely true, at first it seems that we just blog for fun, but with time we develop these great blogging relationship that let us learn from each other, appreciate each other, and thus we start to realize, we are not just virtual people, we are the real people that live real lives, have every day problems, tasks, happy living, hobbies etc. but as we progress into deeper blogging with each other we get to know each other more, and even the internet is shielding us from seeing our body emotions, I think that eventually if we tune into each other posts on a deeper level and read them carefully, the emotion is really there. I think writing and photography are the two greatest self expression tools one can utilize to blog about themselves, oh and painting/drawing too for those who have that great skill. I remember when I first started to blog wow how differently I approach the blogging world, but then all it took first couple of friendly bloggers to teach me - respect for each other. And to add to this, I am thankful for your prayers.

This time of the year seems to be very busy, work and family, and slowly I am getting myself back on the feet I should be back to blog. My funny theory is, with cold everything slows down, for example, water to ice cubes, and I think sometimes, it is not so much of work but me getting slower, lol. Thank you again for your kind comments, and soon as I get through my blog back log, I will be back to your blog, as I probably missed lot of good stuff on your side. Oh I still have your tag on the list, so sorry to keep you waiting. Anna :)

Anna, I am trying to subscribe to your posts by feed or email, but it's not working. Has anyone else reported this to you?

Lynda thank you for your message. I have checked and my feeds seems to work, I know that some others do subscribe and had no issue, but then never know, some will not say anything. I cannot really point out the problem, because I don't have all the details from you. However, I tried myself, and in my IE7, while on my blog, clicked on the feeds icon (the orange one with white arcs), and selected subscribe. Then in View > Explorer Bar > Feeds to display all my feeds. I don't know what else to tell you. And I am sure you know how to subscribe to Email follow-up to each post. If you can may be describe where is the problem, may be we then I can see where the problem with my blog is. Let me know, and may be give a try one more time, sometimes there are internal blog glitches and seems to be working later on. Thanks, Anna :)

Anna, it's still happening. When I click on "subscribe to posts" (atom) I get a page with your actual posts on it, but no place to click to sign up!

Thanks for all your wonderful comments, dear....

I'll try this again....

I'm sorry to hear of these ills, and wish everyone healing and renewed health....

Hi Lynda and nice to have you back. Check may be you are already subscribed, because for the blog I am subscribed I don't see subscription, but for those I am not subscribed then I see it on the top. May be experiment with some other blog, subscribe, then go back and try to subscribe again, and see if you see the difference. I will try to play around, because I don't really use this feature that much. I use email follow up, and I have list of favorite blogs on my blog and just try to keep my regular visits, post or no post. Hope this helps.

Thanks for you kind comment about some bloggers going through a tough time. Anna :)

Hi Anna
I am back and on the road to recovery. Not yet running on all cylinders, but back, just don't have the stamina to do much at the moment, so I take it one day at a time.
Thanks for your thoughts and kind comments.
Sue and I were commenting the other day what a wonderful group of friends we have built up around the world through blogging.
I have found some photos of the a kudu bull, which I will post shortly so that you can see what the male of the species looks like.
Bye for now
Max
