He is listening, be careful what you are whispering then. This photo is a follow-up to the previous post of a couple of deer. I was fortunate to take this photo and fit it into the camera window completely, no cropping was necessary.
This way, much more detail can be seen.
Well, I will have to tell you that only at the zoo was I able to get these nice shots. In real life, they come along unexpectedly, so guess what - the camera is usually not available. And if they are expected, they are usually between the woods and focusing is sometimes impossible.
Woods or no woods, the deer is still real, and this time he is listening or if you are looking from a different angle - maybe he is meditating.

Recently while hiking, we have come across several deer. They always bolt off as soon as we are close enough to seem a threat. Usually before we can get even within several hundred feet.
On the other hand, we have deer that live in town and are really pests. Not only do they eat flowers and shrubs on peoples front yards, they can be quite bold. Someone I know came out on their front porch one morning to get the newspaper and there were 3 deer crowded on eating her flowers out of the pots by the front door. The deer had to climb 10 or 12 steps and turn a corner to get up on the porch. She tried to shoo them away, but they did not want to leave!
Another person in the same neighborhood had a male deer break the glass on the door to their back deck. I was told it was eating potted plants or flowers and saw its reflection in the glass and tried to butt the competition.
We live more in the country, and for some reason don't have the deer so close. But, we get coyotes at night. They come through the fields to within a short distance of the house. Has anyone ever heard a pack of them close up at night. It is a very loud and eerie sound.

They seem to be such dainty delicate ballerinas! I love the different “grain” of fur on top of the head. I love the whiskers, the “clever” ears, and those coy eyes! What a pleasure to spend some times with such animals, and then share them with others!
Only a person that has attempted to take such a photo can appreciate how challenging it can be, animals are not typically cooperative “models”…either in the zoo or wild.

I am glad you liked it :). I just looked at that sweet deer with his eyes closed and I immediately saw him meditating...letting the breath of life in his nostrils...
