Holiday BBQ Mourning Dove

It was Sunday morning that we found this cute Mourning Dove sitting on top of our BBQ covered in snow.

I went out to take some pictures, and believe it or not, the Mourning Dove did not even move. I guess the BBQ was still giving off some heat even though it has been a week since we used it.

That day all the weather networks were calling for a winter storm warning, so as the Mourning Dove was warming up to the BBQ, we were able to warm up in our house for a day, as on Sundays we are always on the road to visit our family.

Happy Holidays!

~ Anna

Hi Anna,

It is a really nice shot! I like the curves of the snow that reminds the curves of the bird. What a great instant, we can see that animals are really confident with you.

I wish you happy hollydays!

I agree with you, it is a cute mourning dove.

What a great shot, and brilliant that the dove stayed and posed for you so long - it obviously knew you would do it justice with your pictures :-)

That's a great shot Anna! It's neat how there is a little snow on the dove's head and beak. Strange how it stayed there as you tokk the pictures. Maybe it's little feet were frozen to the metal top of the BBQ? You know, like the dog who puts his wet nose on the frozen storm door? Ouch! The dove is not still there, is it? Make sure to check under the new snow you have received since the shot was taken!

Hi Leondard, long time no see, and hope all is well with you. Happy Holidays to you too. Thank you so much for your comment and visit, it is always appreciated. I think this time it was food and need for heat. However, my sister told me once, if you hang around animals a lot, they eventually come to you. Thanks again, Anna :)

Hi Kriz Cpec, thanks a lot. Anna :)

Hi Will, never know, because when I came out first, the head was moving around, so it may have been, lol. About the dog it is funny, but what's funnier, my mom told me a story once, that she told her sister to stick her tongue to the railing, you could just imagine what happened then - kids will be kids, and glad that I never played pranks on the kids like that. Will thank you for your comment, on the way to your blog, I think I have some make up issues to resolve, lol. Anna :)

Poor little fellow. The worst our birds have to endure is the rain - it always rains on Chrstmasday here. I cant remember a time when it did not rain at Christmas
Anonymous said…
nice, i wonder what the bird was thinking while you were taking the shots, nice catch
myonlyphoto said…
Max-e thank you for your comment. You know what is amazing about the nature, that birds do adapt. If you actually see the same birds during summer day and then winter time, you will actually see how puffy they are because of the extra feathers. It is nice to see you back, and a bit late reply on my part. Anna :)
myonlyphoto said…
Hi Ciprian, yes I wonder too, however, if I wanted to guess, probably was wondering why am I shooting at him or her. Thanks for you comment, and welcome to my blog. Anna :)
