Oh Deer These Are Big Ears

I am not sure how much I can write about this photo, but I will leave it to your imagination what this one is thinking because I am going to sleep with a big smile on my face.

I remember that last year I took more deer photos at the Toronto Zoo, and I found this one among many. When I do a little research, I will let you know the type. I think this guy is different from the previous ones; the ears are definitely bigger, and there are white stripes on the body. Also, notice the stripe right across the nose bridge.

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!

I laughed so hard at the face of that deer at its tongue! Normally that would be a good thing but I popped my shoulder playing hockey on Sunday and even though it did not come out entirely and I was able to keep playing, the pain now is intense. Even with taking Lortab, something I have never had to do before, laughing is intensely uncomfortable.

Please Anna - No more funny pictures for a day or two!

Man, Anna, looks like this guy just landed after catching that thing in his mouth, lol. Awesome ears and pic.

Just when I think you couldn't catch a cuter expression, you snap another photo. :D

Great pic!!!

Nice shot Anna. I can't get over those ears! I bet there are no secrets kept from him in the whispering crowd (amongst the other deer that is).

Hi Anna,

What a beautiful deer! Yes, he has huge ears, but he is so cool.

Looking at him I'd say that he's the guardian of his family. He has those big ears cause he has to hear the danger approaching...(well, you did say to let our imagination run...).

Cheers

Hi Kathy, and thanks, you are right, when I posted and compared to my first deer photo, these are big ears, lol. This photo was taken by accident, I guess statistically is possible if you shoot at the poor deer fifty times.

Will are you okay. Me and you, when I saw this photo of which I completely forgot, I was laughing and laughing, so I had to post (not knowing of your injuries), but I was fortunate not to have any injuries. Okay, I will keep to minimum anything very funny for next few days, but you know what they say also, laugher is a best medicine, lol. Thanks for your refreshing comments. Anna :)

Thanks Bob, I think he had a good meal, pulling at the branches. I guess they knew I was shooting photos, so they would eat and watch - good for me to catch something cool like that. Hey Christmas is coming, hope you can catch Sanata with deers through your telescope passing by the moon. Anna :)

Oswegan, thanks, yeah I expected to be red tongue instead of black. I have to find out what type it is, the markings and now tongue is unusual on this deer, and of course the ears. Anna :)

jj, thanks, yes a lot of clicking was involved in this one. But I think this is the last funny pose of the deer, unless I spend days searching through my gallery of photos. I wasn't really impressed with deers at the beginning, but now just knowing what kind of expressions can be captured, they are very interesting creatures. Anna :)

The Uneasy Supplicant thanks for your comment and visit. Yes, everytime I look at the photo - I say these are big ears, and you are right, whispering may be very loud for them. Anna :) PS It would be nice to have ears like that sometimes to hear what others say, lol.

Susanne, that is good another description. May be he is since he looks quite aware, or aware knowing that someone like me was shooting at him harmlessly. Thanks for you visit and comment, Anna :)

Max, thanks, and you are absolutely right, I cropped his head, but there were other deer around much smaller then him on this photo - wow what a great imagination and yet correct. I think you can see beyond photos, another talent. Anna :)

If I saw this guy out camping I would probably run away scared. My wife on the other hand would probably get the shotgun, blow a hole in it and make me clean it for dinner.

Sorry about your shoulder Will. That kinda pain really sucks man. The cartilage in my shoulder is deteriorating and it gets worse and worse every year so I'll probably be in great shape in about 5 more years. Unable to lift my arms and such. By then maybe they'll let me get a cortisone shot. But for now they say I am too young.

Hi Anna,

Really? There was a smaller deer around? Hum...you may be right: I might have another talent lol :).

Hi Anna;

Great image! What an absolutely incredible animal!
Ohhhh his ears are very big. He is waiting some food from you, isn't he? Nice expression in the photo : )
I enjoy those ears everytime I take a peek at them. Those facial expressions!!!

Hi Anna
I will save you the research that is a Kudu cow.
I once had one for a pet and did a post not too long ago. If you are interested it is at http://themaxefiles.blogspot.com/search/label/kudu

Hi again Anna I pushed the publish comment too soon. Kudus are very common in this area and are my favourite antelope.

Amazingly huge ears--the better to hear the wolf treading through the wood, I guess! I like the way he curls his tongue, too!

What a fun photo! I love that the tongue is out. Great work! Cindy at Rosehaven Cottage

Hi Bill, I guess different people have different way to handle danger situations, I would probably run too. I was fortunate enough to be at the zoo at that the time of the photoshoot, lol. Thanks for the visit and comments, Anna :)

Max, sometimes we all have hidden talents we just don't know about and we need someone to tell us. I bet you got many of them, you just don't know it, on top of all the current ones I can see everytime I read your post or comment. Anna :)

PS The Email follow-up comments recently introduced are working wonderfully for me. I noticed that because of that I get responses a lot more faster, but then I am very slow to respond, lol. Must be getting old, or just too too many things to do, and not enough time.

Livingsword, thanks for your comment, oh boy it feels like I have not talk to you for a while. So once I complete all my blog chores here, I will be over, probably this evening. Hope all is well. Anna :)

digitalshuttermania, thank you for your comment, yes he is probably waiting for the food, but I think they all are, and some of them may be ready to eat the bystandard if it wasn't the fence, lol. Thanks for the visit as always, and sorry for my late comment back. Anna :)

JJ thanks, and I bet you do, and there is probably not much about nature that you don't enjoy or there is nothing. More will be coming your way. Anna :)

Wow, Max-e I was wrong about the deer, but I did not expected this to be a Kudu cow. I will make a new post in next few days to make correction, otherwise these Kudu cows will be deer to everyone. Thanks for the research, and your guy on the photo looks just like mine, lol. Anna :0

Max-e...antelope sounds much better, but I guess this is just family name. Anna :)

Thank you Lynda for your comments. The tongue was totally unexpected, but then when you click and click, the probablity is that you will catch the unexpected. Anna :)

roentarre thank you for your comment, and the visit. Anna :)

Thanks Cindy, yes the tongue was unexpected, and many thought that was even more interesting than the ears. Thanks for the visit again, always appreciated. Anna :)
