A Rare New Bird Species Discovered in the Woods - Woodchuck the Long Beak

This weekend was supposed to be my postcard post, and what you know is that I am behind again. Well, my excuse is more baking. I had to attend a bridal shower, and now I take every party I attend as an opportunity to bake. Why? My husband and Matthew are not able to keep up with my experimental baking, and at parties, people do like to try sweets, or even better, more of my experimental cookies. I guess I will have one more week to think about the second digital postcard then.
Now let's talk about the new bird species discovered. I think you know that I am just kidding. This image actually fooled me. I am glad that I can actually zoom with my telephoto lens and look closer. However, when I found this wood-looking bird, I said, Wow, here is a photo for my next post. I know what some of you are thinking. No, there is not enough time to make this into a postcard.

I guess today is the day for a short and sweet post. Enjoy your week and this ending quote by Frank Lloyd Wright: 'Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.'

Hi Anna! My, this bird looks a little worse for wear. I am sure that it must have seen better days than what appears here! Touch wood that it recovers in time for it's next photo shoot!

As for your extraordinary baking skills and tremendous output, both at home and away, has hubby got himself a treadmill yet?

Take Care,
Peter

I have to say, Wow! That is the coolest bird I have ever seen. And you captured it beautifully as always. What a professional you are. Well done.

Happy trails.
The wood looks like a bird, possible a wood stork.

Anyway, why don't you show your cookies to us? : )

Cheers,
DSM

Neat shot Anna, keep them coming.
Whatever your inclination, we love your posts, so no apologies, Anna. And, new bird species, especially so perfectly photographed, are always fascinating. The postcards will come when they are ready. In the meantime, I bet everyone at the shower was happy to sample your culinary skills!

Hey DSM so you are interested more in cookies, lol, may be when I make next batch. I am not really good yet photographing food, so let me practice baking and photographing for now, lol. Thanks DSM for your visit, seems like you are back to blogging again, it is always good to see you, I still remember those first amazing photographs you posted when you started to blog - I think it was a child beside or behind the fence with red coat, my favorite. How excellently camouflaged (correct spelling?)! Woodpeckers are so interesting, I saw one for the first time only last year in Russia. :)
I think it would have fooled me too Anna. Baking? I love baking. :)

Haha, that's a wonderful bird.
How funny, mom and I looked and looked at this photo, to see what it was. We did think it was a bird at first, but then realized it wasn't!
Hope your week is going well!

That is an interesting shot, Anna. I had to click on the image and put my nose to the screen for a while to be sure of what I was seeing. And I am still not sure I am sure!
Hi Anna,
You are a fine photographer; because, while the photo fooled me too, a lesser photographer (that would be me with my "point and shoot" digital camera) would not have have depicted the subject in such a realistic manner. All of my images come out blurry and every one has red eye. All of my photos from our recent cruise shows everyone with red eyes. Our picture album looks like "The Voyage of the Damned." Your photos are excellent and truly look like post cards. At first glance of this one, I thought you discovered a new species of "Woodpecker." That's a bad joke, I know. Have fun baking. -Mike.

Mike thanks so much for your kind comment. Don't you worry, I get faces with red eyes all the time. Sometimes camera's have the red eye reduction, and some photo labs have the capability to remove it. However, you made me laugh. Sorry to fooled you, but the nature fooled me, so I thought I pass it on, lol. Mike don't you worry, we all been there with our camera's, it takes a bit of practice.

Mike it is nice to see you here again, thanks for visiting. Anna :)
