Matthew is now over 9 months old, and boy is he ready for real food. He is getting fussy with his mashed food, so sometimes I have to hide his tiny little bowl inside my big bowl. In his mind, I think he knows I am tricking him. So what is he up to? walking and running—of course, with our help. Talking in his language and always trying to be part of the conversation. Reading all my computer books, but never forgets to read his Peek-A-Baby book. He is such a little character.
Last week, one day we played, and he had so much fun and giggled so much that when I was nursing him [yes, this is still his primary food], he remembered and continued to giggle during the feeding. I was afraid that he would bite me. I had to resume feeding at a later time as we both sat in the glider and laughed. Yes, he also watches TV, but not cartoons—his favourites are Gray Power Auto Insurance, ING Bank, CIBC Bank, Canada Pension Plan, and now I think he has an eye on some standing-up bath tub commercials. Oh, and the weatherman, too. I think I finally figured out why, because they are all talking to him. Valentine's Day is around the corner. Sorry to say, but I will not be supporting the economy this year. Staying home and cooking up a dinner. But then I have done the same in the past 10 years. Just too darn expensive for prepared food, plus taxes and a tip on top of that. Not to mention flowers, as I always ask for a bunch the day after Valentine's Day—well, this never goes well with my husband, lol. That way I can have them one day longer, or put that money away and buy me some nice digital toys.

our Matthew loves the weather too - always stopping what he's up to to check the forecast. Maybe it's a thing with all babies, or all Matthews?
Dave
We are staying home too on Valentine's Day, as usual and for the same reason. It is really expensive here,
As for Valentine's Day, we usually don't even bother with cards. You can waste up to ten dollars, just buying cards! It's ridiculous! If we don't know that we love each other after more than 35 years together, a few cards won't prove it!
Eating out is great fun but we, like everyone, must do it only rarely.
Like you, I am entertaining a secret fantasy about a new digital camera! ;)
We had our 30th Anniversary on the 10th, so we always spend a lot of money around this time of year, Cathy gets me a valentine card, I get her an anniversary card, saves a little, lol.
The internet is so fantastic. Here we are watching your beautiful baby grow up right before our eyes. Every step of the way is like watching a miracle. Before long, he'll be a big guy.
Happy trails.
Matthew is beautiful! What a great kid. And thanks for visiting my blog.
Is he watching the "Wiggles" yet? Great Aussie entertainment for young strapping boys and girls I can assure you!
What did you get for Valentine's Day? For my wife, she was delighted to see that I had brought home roses and a box of "Ferrero Rocher" chocolates. I do enjoy chocolates!
Now for some serious stuff. The temperatures have dropped here now, but that's not problem.
Our southern state of "Victoria" has been dealt a very sad blow. Hundreds of fires from both natural reasons and arson have taken the lives of 181, destroyed over 1800 homes and left over 7000 people homeless. Everyone is glued to the TV watching this event unfold as it's not over yet.
Anyway, I hope you get what you want for Valentines Day!
P.S. What did hubby get?
Take Care,
Peter
Happy Valentines to you and your family Anna!
Have a nice and happy weekend :D

I wonder how much of what he hears on TV he understands. The concepts would certainly be too advanced, but kids his age have a much bigger understanding of words than they have generally been given credit for. Since he likes to watch people on TV talking, it would be fun to see his reaction to a news story about someone named Matthew.
What type of filter did you use on this photo?
Matthew is such a beautiful baby - you can tell he is very happy and much loved.
Enjoy all your laughs - they are so special!
You are so right Lynda, you don't need to waste so much money on the cards, its rediculous how expensive it is. You know you can make your own with all the photography you do, just develop on 4x6 for 20 cents. I think Domenic did one for me electronically one day - its like the best thing ever.
BTW I baked chocolate stuff for my husband, and it turned out better than ever...lol.
Thanks Lynda for always kind words. Anna :)
PS its amazing what we prefer these days, lol
Baby Matt is sooooo cute! Cuter everyday :D!
And rather communicative as well...I think when he starts to talk he will never stop (trust me, I know...he reminds me of me LOL)!
Valentine's...I have never celebrated it! And this year it was no different; besides my husband and I have our own special day :)!
Have a great week, darling :D!
Cheers
This is a wonderful post and such a pretty photo of Matthew!!
Finally I got some good connection time to visit your blog again - sorry for the long absence!

BTW I have posted my Body Shop story on the Story Blob if you interested, but no pressure.

Wow nice Valentine's gift for your wife, and I do to love Ferrero Rocher, especially with dark chocolate.
Fires, I think it is time for some good invention to put those fires out. Kidding aside, fires always scare me.
This year Peter both of us enjoyed the presence of Matthew, as he was our Christmas gift, he is also our Valentine gift.
Hope all is well.

Anna :)
You are so right, we don't give babies enough credit. You know it is funny to say, but Matthew sometimes picks up a book, flips pages and talks to him self, I think he is reading, as we do the same to him, lol. It looks so cute.
Anna :)
No filter, just simple point and shoot camera. I do little photoshopping to birghten the picture a bit. Anna :)
It is nice that two of you have their own special day, I think that is much better than Valentine, more meaningful.
Thanks Max, it is always nice to see you here. Anna :)
WOw! What a great shot! Love it. When I was in the military I was the junior supervisor (for a short time) of a unit that had a portrait studio for military personnel. My goal was always to try do portraits that resembled the great works of the Renaissance artists. This photograph of Matthew is a true winner and I commend you on it. Having a cute subject helps :-) but that is besides the point. Well done! Also, you don't need new digital toys...(I'm assuming you want a new camera being the photographer you are). Concentrate on good quality lenses...that's they key. The more the better. :-)
As for Valentines Day...I'm lucky. My wife doesn't like getting cards or flowers :-)
Take care.

I began switching my kids to different foods at nine months. I can't wait until you show us a spaghetti sauce picture with Matthew the artist. :D
Don't let me miss that!!!
Big Hugs, JJ

You said: 'My goal was always to try do portraits that resembled the great works of the Renaissance artists.' - I would love to see some of your work one day! I used to restore damaged photographs few years ago, and lot of them were military photos. It was painful fun, lol, as it was lot of work.
Thanks JD, yes you are right having a cute subject it really helps, lol, just have to watch out where he is going too, lol.
I have 100-400mm lens, and often when we gather with family outside I go far away and photo them, you know these photos come out so good, because no body is posing and they don't even know that I photograph them.
Yes you are absolutely right, I don't need a new camera, good quality lenses are the key, and more, lol. The reason I mention camera is that I hate changing lenses because my sensor always attracts so much dust. It would be nice to have camera for each lens, lol. Photography can be very expensive too.
JD you said: 'My wife doesn't like getting cards or flowers :-)' - I am the same, lol, I don't have space anymore for all the cards, and this is another issue I feel bad throwing sentimental stuff away, lol.
JD thanks again for your nice conversation.

The furnace was repaired, service guy narrowed down problem to the transformer, but then he found that wires shorted, so the fix was short and painless, but the wait for painful, especially when you have a baby in the house.
