The Give a Goat for Christmas programme, or any other specialoccasion, has, been around for a while, but you know, I just found out about it a few weeks ago. I think it's a great idea. As every year we try to donate something for Christmas for those in need, this year it will be a goat. As I was doing my little research, I found out that there are pros and cons to giving a goat to a family in a third country; however, for me, the pros outweigh the cons. A goat is a giving animal itself, giving milk and milk products to help a struggling family. It is a meaningful and lasting gift.
A few years ago, I traveled to Banff National Park and drove through Jasper National Park, and few times we came across a mountain goat families. As you can see on photos, the baby goats are just so adorable, we could not take our eyes off them. Just imagine how happy a child would be to get a baby goat that he or she can play with, another thing that will put smile on child's face. You know it would put smile on my face too, how can you not resist pet like that.
So enjoy my photo collection of the mountain goats from the trip. I am sure these are the mountain goats; I don't seem to have located any information on this type. There were also white mountain goats that we came across, according to a post I wrote last year, The Canadian Mountain Goats. Well, I am calling them goats, and if anyone has any objection, please tell me, LOL, and now I am on my way to buy a goat.

Good idea for the gift - I am sure it will be most appreciated - very thoughtful.
First I love the Matthew photo looking at the books!
World Vision does great work I am a volunteer with them! Actually I am waiting for a badge from them for my blogs….
Last year CG (who is an x-ray technologist) led her coworkers to raise money for World Visions “Stock a Medical Clinic” and they raised around $800. Every year we also give a goat and other animals etc. Goats are a great idea! Its great to see you encouraging this!
Banff and Jasper are wonderful National Parks!
I love the photos! Fantastic! It is rare to see photos of young clustered quite like this…because they are so young it is a little challenging identifying them without a tight close up but I am guessing they may actually be mountain sheep…If the photo was taken anywhere close to a highway or other major road it would also be unlikely to see so many young mountain goats together…Do you have photos from the same event of adults (goats long haired and all white straight horns, sheep brownish with the curled horns)…
Gorgeous animals…
I think goats are fantastic animals, they have a very clever look about them. I got surrounded by goats once on a Spanish hillside, it was a little bit scary as I was sure they were cleverer than me and about to play some kind of trick, but then the goatherd came and rescued me so it was ok :D
Great post keep em coming
BTW you have two awards in my blog so try and pick it up when you can
Godbless
Your gift will surely make big differences. I am mostly skeptical about giving anything third party but like you said - the pro's outweigh.
Cheers :)
Wow, Jasper Park looks wonderful. I'd love to see it someday.
Give a goat? Now how does one go about giving a goat to someone in a third-world country? I never heard of this idea before, but I agree that it sounds like a good thing to do. A goat would probably make some deserving family very happy. Plus, the goat would continue to give them benefits for a long time. Great idea.
Nice article. great goat shots.
Happy trails.
And this donating a goat seems for me also a wonderful idea for Christmas, full of sense!
Have a great time with your little sunshine, Anna!
Fantastic pictures.
Thanks,
Varun
Love your shots, so very cute.
And that sounds like a great program to give goats. We have never heard of this program. Thanks for telling us about it!

Take Care,
Peter
The photo of your son facing the bookcase is priceless. Well done.
Instead of goats we usually donate the funds to purchase medical supplies. In the past we have donated chickens and I think pigs. We've tried to do that in time for christmas the past 8 years.
BTW thank you for the great review at blogcatalog. You are always too kind.
Take care.

Now that I got double confirmation, one from you and one from Bob, I think I will go with World Vision too, as I am not familiar the other ones I searched for.
Thank God for people like you and CG, and all those who help others. The life is all about, working together, and helping each other and helping those who need help the most...
I cannot agree with you more about Banff and Jasper, I will be back again, once Matthew is ready to travel.
Thanks for commenting on my photos and helping me to ID these little adorable creatures. For few years now I been calling them 'goats', but now I will know what to look for, the horns. Yes we saw goats with straight horns, however, the mother of these sheep in fact had round horns, and she gave me a 'look' when I was photo them. And she gave them look too to go back on the top of the cliff, lol.
Thanks again LS for your comment and help.
Anna :)
It is nice of you to donate a cow, I am sure that it was appreciated then, and probably still is.
Wow interesting story about the goats. Never know what situation sometimes we tend to be.
Thanks for commenting and nice to see you back.
Anna :)
As I mention to you, thanks for showering me with these amazing awards, always appreciated.
Anna :)
Nothing is perfect Priyank, just have to compare...
Thanks for visiting, it is appreciated, knowing that it may not be easy for you to surf net during your travels.
Anna :)
Unfortunately we cannot give a goat ourselves, but we can buy them through, let say, World Vision. You are absolutely right, very giving animal.
Thanks for your comment again, Anna :)
Thanks for commenting again, Anna :)
So you are really getting new telescope for Christmas. Good for you, life it too short for not to enjoy it here on Earth and from Earth, :))
Thanks Bob for your comment, and smiles!
Anna :)
Thanks JB your comments are appreciated, and I guess I will see you on your blog....
Anna :)
Bob is very generous, I got some glasses from him, so you never know what may show up at your front door from him, lol.
Thanks Peter for your comment, hope all is well.
Anna :)
I like that photo myself, and you are right it is priceless. However, he does not read them yet, but he eats them...lol.
I think too that medical supplies are essential. I always donated randomly, especially more for reasearch, but now I will review my donation strategy and give what really make sense.
I picked up lot of good ideas from here, amazing what one post about goat can do.
Oh no problem about the review, but it was only one word...lol...JD great people make great blogs.
Anna :)
Goats for Christmas? That is a new one for me, but it does seem like a great program which I will have to look into. I have many friends from Mexico and some of them have lots of goats. Not pets, though. More for dinner on special occasions. I have only had goat once and it was good. I think I will stick with the organic, free-range turkey for our Thanksgiving.
The goats in your photos are amazing in the way they are standing on those sheer stones!
I'm quite happy that you are always around to support every of my blog's article, hope you've a lot of fun and looking forward on my newest post.I would be delighted if I'm given a goat as a present for X'mas.Pity them ending in my chopping board...:D
About the goats, you can buy them through World Vision or other charitable organization, I am not sure if you can buy them yourself and deliver...
Thanks for dropping by, appreciated. Anna :)
I only wish to thank you for your kind comments.
All the best to You and Matthew.
Bye
Cindy
Yes, they are adorable. And so is baby Matthew, sitting straight up by himself! How time has flown....
I too like this series of photos very much especially the second one on which two of goats or whatever they are look at the camera with curiosity. They look so cute.
I also cannot help saying that Matthew looks adorable while sitting on his own. I love looking at his lovely little back. The photo is great!
Anna, thank you again very much for your comments to every of my photo. That really makes me happy always. :-)
Baby Matthew looking at the book case, thinking that in 5 years he will be able to read them is simply adorable :D!
Such cute sheep photos!!!! Look at that!
I had never heard of this program before...it sounds interesting! I will have to do some research on this...to which countries do they usually send them?
LS is such a help, isn't he? :D Thank God we have him around!
Cheers
P.S: this time I won't forget to subscribe to follow-up comments LOL...
I love the idea of giving a goat for Christmas and know an author who had that as one option to choose from for voting on what to donate to the needy at Christmas.
Your posts are always so DELIGHTFUL!!! I am blessed to know you.
Hugs, JJ
