Self Portrait Dissected

I am back. My mistake; I just noticed the date and cannot believe it's already been a month since my last post. I am enjoying my summer with Matthew as much as I can (2 years and 3 months). It's still hot and humid, but it's better than cold.

Today I am going to showcase something I found recently on my point-and-shoot camera. Let me give you a little clue: hundreds of other pictures on my point-and-shoot are like that; many of them are pictures of me (dissected, of course), and many of toys.
Yes, these are pictures of Matthew taken by Matthew. Since the moment he learned what a camera was capable of, Matthew has been taking pictures as well (since he was one year old). Not to mention he really listens to our instructions—to put the strap around his wrist and not cover the flash.

But there is more; Matthew also figures out how to get into settings and menus, something to which he refuses to listen. A few weeks ago, we went to the zoo. It was the first time for Matthew, and it was the first time for me to find out that he changed the setting on my camera to the lowest pixel size. Well, all I can say is that having something is better than nothing. I am sure other things have been changed too. I almost killed myself for the pose, not knowing that he set the timer to 2 seconds.

I hope everyone is enjoying summer and, in some cases, winter. Soon, the kids will be back in school. Sometimes I wish I was going too.

~ Anna

a boy genius photographer, hey!
I love that there is humour in each of Matthew's dissected images. You can feel his pleasure of the moment. It is for sure that he is growing up loving his world, just like his Mama:)
It's that time of year when everyone is busy. So Matthew is already getting the photo bug like you?

It's worth to visit Kraków, because there are many monuments (Wawel Castle, Barbican, St. Mary's Basilica) and by the way you can go to Wieliczka and see there the Wieliczka Salt Mine. You can also visit Oświęcim. There's situated a concentration camp.

Excellent pictures and you're right to enjoy the time with your little one. It goes so fast ;-)

I'm glad you've had a great summer with Matthew. It also made me laugh how he changed the settings on your camera. I remember my son messing with all my things and messing them up. Some things never change.

Have a terrific day. :)

Hi Anna! Does he take photos of things other than himself? LOL! Cute though. The eyes and mouth expression look like he knows exactly what he is doing. You should do a monthly post of just a few photos he takes. Like Mother, like son!

And I might see what the problem is for the first commenter above from Warmia, if that is what is being asked. But who knows, my Polish is not that good. ;-) Does that say "superb secret photos"?

Glad you are haaving a fun summer!

I think they are fabulous. Give it to a child and set back and enjoy. Nice idea too.

You obviously have a budding photographer in the family. Thanks for the cute post. Enjoy as much time with Matthew as you can (they grow up entirely too fast!).

What could be more fun than enjoying summer sunshine with your little one and discovering all the things you can do with a camera.

Hi Anna! These photos taken by Matthew are really nice, so bright and soft!
Happy Sunday :-)
This reminds me of when I was about 3 or 4 and my mom let me have her old Kodak brownie. I started photographing things then and haven't really stopped. I think you've got a budding photographer on your hands. :-)

Genes don't lie Anna dear, and Matthew definitely has taken from you ;) As for the summer here - in the month of August it was simply awful - only rain, and wind, with a few minutes a day of sunshine... who knows what September will bring, but I do hope some gipsy summer at least :)
This is GREAT ART, ANNA!!! :D :D :D

I looooooove this!!! Matthew, you take after your talented mother.

Anna, your statement below has me chuckling. You have your beautiful hands full. :D

>>>, all I can say to have something is better than nothing.

These photos are terribly sweet, especially knowing Matthew took them. It is such a different thing now, seeing cameras in the hands of little ones, and also how they behave in front of them, so comfortable!

Hey Anna,

Isn't Matthew talented? :)
These dissected pics are lovely: hold on to them for they might worth millions one day (after he becomes a famous artist) :D.

Summer is good but I am already begging for Winter: it's too damn hot!

Enjoy your son :D!

Cheers

It seems Matthew’s research with camera has exposed these pictures. Like how we correct from our mistakes, he will learn to be right at pixel soon! Wonderful art work there Anna, hope he will learn the techniques soon as much he’s interested in photography
Thanks for your recent visits! We are glad we can stay in touch with you, one of our first blogging friends.
Guess what? I am sending my mom to a very interesting place next, to Gloppy Goose Islands!
(JB! It is Galapagos Islands, remember? - mom) Oh yeah, sorry, Galapagos!
We will come back and visit you again soon!

What interesting pictures and what great memories to put into your book of Mathew's life. He'll really love this stuff when he gets older.

Great stuff. I believe the little guy might be a genius.

Happy trails.

Great photos by Matthew, These are probably the youngest self portrait shots ever taken. Glad you are enjoying your summer Anna. Also, we just took our granddaughter to the zoo for her first time too. It was such a great time, we haven't been to a zoo in many years and I really can't wait to take her back. I can imagine Matthew being so amazed with all the animals. Take care.

Nice and very special pictures, he is a pretty smart boy, it won't take long he has his own camera and blog, lol.

LOL. It is amazing how children are so technologically advanced these days. Your description of Matthew getting into the settings, seems to indicate that he is already developing the typical male aversion to instruction manuals :) But at least he is learning to be a photographer and having fun.

Hi Anna, it's been a long time since the last time you posted. I hope everything is alright.
Great that you are encouraging Matthew to take photos. My grandsons enjoy this activity as well. They love to capture things they enjoy.

Look forward to some of your fall photos.
