Digital Postcard Series: Imagine If You Can

Digital Postcard #0003(Photo no longer exists)

"The Chinese pianist Liu Chi Kung was imprisoned for seven years during the Cultural Revolution, during which time he had no access to a piano. When he returned to giving concerts again after he was released, his playing was better than ever. Asked how this was possible since he had not practice for seven years, he replied: I did practice, every day. I rehearsed every piece I had ever played, note by note, in my mind." ~ by Bernie Zilbergeld

This is something I actually believe in, and I know it works. I have imagined doing my schoolwork, studying for exams, practising martial arts, and cooking. I can cook up a meal in my head, and when it comes to actually cooking, it is so easy to do.

On the other hand, if you have not looked at the picture very closely yet, try to look again; you will be surprised at what you will find in nature's sculpture.

Geographical Location: Scilla, Calabria, Italy [38°15'0"N 15°43'0"E] lies in front of the Strait of Messina, a narrow section of water between the eastern tip of Sicily and the southern tip of Calabria in the south Italy. Archived photo from my travel gallery: Italy, September 2006.

Interesting post Anna and beautiful photo again. You are a wise and very creative woman.
I looked at the photo again closely and when I used my imagination I saw a "stone sleeper" in these rocks. :-)

Hi Anna! Great shot and I also saw what appeared to be a rock man standing with his back to the wall.

Take Care,
Peter

Anna:

It looks like a man. But then again I see so many other things.

By the way, when it comes to imagination, I wish I could visualize the laundry all washed, dried and folded. Any suggestions?

Happy trails.

Interesting story about Liu Chi Kung and a beautiful photo. When I look closely I see several faces.

And yes, I did know that whoever invented sleep was a genius, but I often wonder why this genius had to make us need 8 hours. I seem to only fit in 5 or 6 many nights and would love for that to be enough!

Another beautiful shot, Anna. I think this new series is allowing for you to post more of your photos and that is a good thing for us.

@Swubird - I "visualize the laundry all washed, dried and folded" all the time. It's easy. Only problem is when I open my eyes!

Lol, I see his nose Anna, great shot, and so true about realizing things in your head and then putting them into practice, I do it all the time.
I see the Gods of Olympus!

Beautiful photo and post, Anna!!!

We are kindred spirits when it comes to loving rock formations.

Thank you very much for the comment. You have an excellent blog with a awesome work in photography, congratulations.
We can rehearse in our minds, Anna. Thanks for a powerful reminder. Athletes can even improve muscle memory by this rehearsal.

Your digital postcard from Scilla, Italy certainly is majestic to the imagination.

I have heard it said this technique works on things like prayers.

It seems like there is a special word for these techniques of rehearsal and visualization, but it escapes me at the moment.

I fancy that your craggy rock is like the bumpy, corrugated surface of our amazing brains!

Thanks Will, same here I see many faces.

About the sleep, seems like I can only fit in 6 hours per night and sometimes a nap during a day. For me 8-9 hours would be nice, but then the more I sleep the more I want to sleep.

Will thanks so much for you kind comment. It is in fact fun to do something new. Thanks again, Anna :)

Hi Anna, I hope this is not too weird but I saw an owl. hehehe (the two caves look like eyes). I think that's why they tell you to meditate every morning - asking us to go through all things we would be doing in the day. And suddenly our day becomes easy, organized and happy!

Thanks John for your kind comment. The blogging is fun and I guess I don't go out that much, then it is good to share my thoughts and creations here. Thanks always for your encouragement. Anna :)

I used to call it my blackboard in my head. Lately some of the things seem to be missing, but for the most part it's all still up there to pull out when needed. Great post Anna!

Anna,

I truly believe that if we see things in our mind, anything is possible!
For example, when I learn a new dance step if I can't see myself executing it in my mind I won't be able to do it.

This being said, our mind is a powerful data base; thus if Mr. Liu Kung saw the notes and the piano in his mind and he practiced everyday with his fingers (virtually playing)...then no wonder he came out of prison better than ever!

Girl, I looked at the picture and I saw an old man looking askance at us; and a big eye observing me lol (I am serious though).

Loved this post card; perfect result.

Cheers

Max, thanks girl. So you dance, good for you. And yes practicing in our minds is very powerful. On the end we know that everything comes from brain, hand or leg moves because of the signal from brain. Like you said, I couldn't agree with you more, mind is a powerful database. Max, you got good imagination too. That rock was perfect, and I was waiting for the right time to use it. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for your thoughts, now I can see what you can see too....Thanks again my friend. Anna :)
