I could not believe what I saw through my lens the other day. However, before I go on, have you ever watched martial arts movies where martial arts students had to practice catching a fly with chopsticks? I have done it many times; it looks easy, but it is not. I never caught anything as well. Speaking for myself only, because some of you out there might have this talent naturally. I am a big fan of Bruce Lee. It's not a secret that I studied martial arts in the past: Shaolin Kung Fu, Wing Chun, and Tai Chi. The worst part is that I have not done it for a few years now, and I stink big time. Oh well, maybe one day I will be able to chop something like a brick, but for now I will stick with chopping vegetables.
Okay, let me tell you what I saw. I was photographing this juvenile black-capped chickadee who was singing away on the tree. Then suddenly I saw him with the fly in his beak. Just like that. I don't know how he did it, but he did it, and he is little too, so I named him Chickadee Little, The Kung Fu Master. Check out the second image. By the time I took that photo, the fly was on its way into his throat. And this also tells you whether I would catch the fly with chopsticks or not. As a matter of fact, I have trouble grabbing rice with them too. I am just slow, and that may be because I enjoyed the moment. Oh well, this little bird was nice to watch.
These little walks we have these days are always full of fun, and Matthew makes it all happen. I know that all of you are busy or enjoying summer, so reading another post may take up some time. However, if you want to just see Matthew's latest pictures, you can check them out on my Story Blob blog.

Ładne makro, ptaszki wyglądają jak polskie wróbelki. Chociaż i tych ptaków w Polsce coraz mniej. Pozdrawiam z Warmii:)
I am fascinated about bird photograph because of your bird photos in your blog. However, it's very costly to buy a high telephoto lens here in Thailand. Thanks for sharing your nice story and stunning bird photos.

It is a cool, 63 degrees here at 6:00 AM in Ohio on this August 1st, 2009. Not bad. I slept under a blanket last night. We set the coldest July ever recorded last month. I hope you get some relief this month.
A little bird named Kung Fu master. I love it.
You certainly captured that picture at just the right time. What patience you have.
We have a nest of little birds right outside our upstairs' window. Each year it's a different family and my Queen watches them hatch their young, feed them, teach them to fly and, finally, they all flutter away to their own lives. The next year the cycle starts all over again. My Queen always has her bird books handy and can tell the names of every feathered family that resides in the eves of the roof next door.
By the way, great photography.
Happy trails.
My daughter talked me into taking a Twi Kwon Do class with her when she was in high school and were my muscles ever sore. I admire that you studied the Marshall Arts. :D
Hugs, JJ
Looks like Queen is enjoying her birdwatching. I learn something, that there are many many birds around us, and you don't really have to go far to enjoy their presence. Tell her to keep up, and may be you should get her a camera too, lol.
Swu, thanks again it is always nice to see you here. Anna :)
