Halloween Trick-Or-Treat Not This Time

Happy Halloween! So this is Matthew's first Halloween and the 11th year we've moved into our home. I think some of you remember my encounters with number 11 from a previous post a few months ago, and there it is again, coincident with Matthew's first Halloween. We cannot take Matthew out for trick-or-treating as he is teething now, and around 6 p.m. he starts to complain in his own language. Adorable moment. We are very lucky; Matthew only cried so badly once that we had to give him some medication; otherwise, he is a very happy baby, even though it is really uncomfortable for him. Matthew starts his bedtime routine around 7 p.m. He follows his bedtime routine every night, starting with pre-feeding, playing, bathing, and feeding before he is out for the night. Except he still gets hungry every few hours throughout the night. He feeds while he sleeps. I think that's enough excuses for not taking Matthew trick-or-treating this year.
Let's not forget Matthew's photo shoot between or throughout the day every day. In the last post, I mentioned storing all my photographs on the hard drive, but then JD from the Uneasy Supplicant blog commented that DVD is still the most reliable storage media. He is right, and I am lazy. A few days ago, I was thinking, can you imagine an electrical storm coming and wiping all data from all storage devices, except CDs or DVDs? I can't. CDs and DVDs can only be destroyed physically—cut or broken up.

Well, Anton Chekhow wrote: "Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice." You know, the same applies to the photographs. They have no value and are not enjoyed if not shared. I wanted to thank God for blogging, but I have to thank Google for blogging.

Speaking of sharing photos, the latest and greatest on the market is the digital picture frame. If you are not aware of the digital picture frame yet, where have you been? My sister-in-law and my mother-in-law have one now, and they enjoy it very much. Simply put, it is a small, framed LCD panel that looks like a framed photo. It plays a slide show of photos of your choice as well as MP3s and videos, almost like a mini media centre.
So just imagine all the advantages of a digital picture frame. No more finger prints on your photos when you share them with your family. No more getting your guests or family to the TV room to run a slide show. No more running to the store to try to develop them, and no more carrying your laptop with you to show off your photography. This digital picture frame eliminates all these extra tasks.

BTW, I am having difficulties getting a smile out of Matthew when posing in front of the self-timed camera. It must be that flashing red light, or he probably wonders, "Where am I?" "Who is taking a photo of me?"

He's a very good looking boy Anna. And you are right...he is happy boy. Must be because he has a very good mother....it's not hard to tell :-)

You know I never considered a digital frame. I don't know why. Never occurred to me.

Anyways, I do hope you have a great Halloween...in whatever way you decide to spend it. Myself? I'm going to hand out candy (one for you - four for me). I figure at that rate I'll be able to stash enough to last for a few months...well at least until Christmas! :-)

Take care!

Fabrice (is 5 y.o) I have seen the last time when he was a baby and Janice (3 y.o.) I will see the very first time!!!

And I will do a new blog from over there, but there will be no more palm tree photos and beaches to show...LOL.., but beautiful mountains and other photos from a picture book perfect country! Be surprised...

Enjoy your little sunshine, I can see it, he is a happy kid!

Yes I have seen those picture frames but like you said maybe it is nicer for people who don't have a computer!!!!!!!
Have a great weekend, see you
Anna, what FANTASTIC photos. :D Matthew will be holding a trick-or-treat bag next year. :D I'm already wondering what costume he'll have. He's a BEAUTIFUL baby and quite the ham in front of the camera. A perfect photo subject. You don't look so bad yourself. :D

Happy Halloween!!!

Love, JJ
Such a precious little cutie! He may not be able to go out this year, but next for sure.

Cindy
Anna,
Happy Halloween day.

I've not visted your blog for awhile because I have so much work than before. I see your son. He is very cute.

Cheers,

Hi JD, thank you so much for your comment. He is very happy, and we just noticed that he is starting to laugh at other people, accepting and recognizing. We all are different and we all like different toys. Myself, probably not for digital frame, but for gift probably yes. You know I don't even hang my own pictures in the house in the traditional frame, lol. Happy Halloween to you too, we will be hiding this time - actually the time passed so we only had two knocks at the door, and don't you store too too much of your candies, lol. Thanks again. Anna :)

Oh Susanne I tell you I for some reasong felt that moving to Charleston wasn't your thing. Just reading your comment I can feel that you finally made a right decision. It almost felt that when you moved to Charleston, you were searching for something, especially I noticed a lot of doors and gates, and I think you found the right door now to escape. I am happy for you, and wow your grandkids are really growing. It would be a shame not to see them grow, right right decision Susanne. So mountains, and may be some photos of your grandchildren too. I love moutains, there are so powerful and represent stability. I will miss you palm or Spanish moss trees, but I will love mountains the most because I know will be happy there. Thanks again for your lovely comment, and surprise. Tell you the truth, I really wasn't, lol. Susanne, thank God visiting you [on the blogs] does not cost me anything, lol. Anna :) PS thanks for the comment about Matthew, he is so precious, and the love for him grows stronger and stronger everyday.

Dick thanks so much for your nice comment. Yes he is, and thank God I don't have to carry him around to sleep, he is over 20 lb and not even 6 months, very healthly. Yes you are right those frames are great for those who don't have computers, because just plug and go. Thanks again for your visit. Appreciated. Anna :)

Thanks JJ. I bet he will, but I probably will be very undecided what costume to get him for next year, I probably will let him choose - but for some reason I like a little lamb, lol. Yes JJ, he knows his camera, he even smiles to it now, but someone needs to photo him, the self timed doesn't do it, lol, he wonders what is going one, oh and he loves looking at the digital LCD display in the camera too. Thanks for your nice comment, hugs and kisses on your way from Matthew, and me too, lol. Anna :)

The concept of Halloween will come to Matthew soon enough. Before you know it he will be like my youngest who is now 14. She went over to a friends house after school yesterday to get ready for trick or treating. Then she is sleeping over. She and all her friends pick the house to stay at based on who has the most candy lenient parents! Oh well, as long as she saves me the Snickers....

Seeing the pictures of your little boy reminds me of when my own children were young. It seems like a long time ago. Every Halloween we went trick or treating, every Christmas we took them to see Santa Claus at the mall, and each Easter we'd host an Easter egg hunt. It was a different time. Now people don't participate in the holidays as we used to do. I think it's sad.

You are lucky to have such a nice family.

Happy trails.

Hi Anna, Happy Halloween! It is great seeing you and your adorable son so happy. Matthew is a lovely baby and you and your husband really are very lucky parents when have such a lovely, healthy and happy baby. It is great that Matthew has no problems sleeping at night. That really is a great blessing. I remember how much I longed for a little sleep when my older son was a little baby like Matthew is now. I used to think that the whole world was sleeping while I was awake at night. Everything was alright with him; he was completely healthy but it was my fault that I spoilt him from the very beginning by taking him into my arms as soon as he started to cry. But that was long ago and nothing lasts forever. And those are only memories which I now remember with the smile on my face.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos with us. I do enjoy yours and Matthew’s lovely smiles. :-))

Anna, Matthew is looking as hale and hearty, healthy and happy, as ever! It's probably good you did not take him out for Halloween, as the costumes can scare a child this age! I know because it happened to our daughter when she was two and did not understand that this was a "pretend" world!

Lovely photos of you two and your happy smiles!

Hi Anna! I never knew what Halloween was all about until I started watching Happy Days many moons ago. Looked like great fun but it never caught on here really. I'm sure Matthew will come to appreciate it a lot more when he gets older. But having said that, if he goes out to collect his lolly booty, he should be accompanied by another sibling. What are the chances of that happening soon?

Take Care,
Peter
Hi Anna!
Thanks for coming by to visit again! Matthew sure looks happy.....but maybe he is just too intrigued with the red light on the self timer to smile? My mom has started a new job so it has been really hard to get her to help me blog.....or to take pictures for my Big World.....gotta work on her some more.
Hope you are doing well! Look forward to your next post!

Thanks Swubird. Wow it was nice of you to do all those things for your kids. Yes family is important to me, and I want to expose Matthew to it as much as possible so he can continue the same. I feel like my next years to come will be lot of fun. But you are right these things are wearing out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Swubird. Anna :)

Medam thank you so much for your kind words about Matthew. You know there is nothing wrong to pick up your baby when is crying, actually recent studies says that children become more secure in life. I know what you mean about when baby is not sleeping at night, I had few episodes, and I tell you it is not that easy. In fact with Matthew I had to carry him every night before bed for about 1-2 hours, but it was worth of investment. First two months were the tough, with nursing and running marathon around our house, I was back to my normal weight in 3 months, but I can feel it in my bones. However, when I look at my baby every morning, I forget all the pains and aches. I think of what you are telling me, you are good mother to your kids. Medam thanks for sharing your children stores, I always enjoy reading them. Thanks again, Anna :)

Thanks Lynda. You are absolutely right, he probably would get scared, especially knowing that he get scared when we sneeze, not us much as me, but my husband scared him few times, and now he has to run away to sneeze away from Matthew. Lol, 'pretend' world. Thanks again Lynda. Anna :)

Peter, wow, many many moons ago, lol, looks like the Halloween is the North American thing. We did not have this in Europe either, and I learned about it many moons ago too from the E.T. movie. That was the best fantasy movie I ever seen when I was young. BTW do you have to ask such a straight forward questions in public, lol? I am very sure that Matthew will have so much fun in the next Halloween. Thanks again for your nice comments always. Anna :)

Awesome post and pics Anna!!! Matthew is so cute!! Duh and Duh , I of course have a digital pic frame, I am so into me and I want everybody else to see all my images so I have it right by our TV,lol.

Lol about the 6 pm and Matthew, our first one was colic and every night at 6 pm we went on a car ride to put her to sleep, that and a soother and gripe water, lol.

So this slide show on your blog, how did you do that? it looks super, you know you got me started on the reflective water thing, lol. Again great post Anna.
Anna, swinging by for a wild wave. Did you enter Bob's contest?

I see he used the same technique for having his colicky baby fall asleep as I did. LOL I KNEW we had a lot in common. I must tease him.

Hugs, JJ

Hi Anna,

Oh my God: what a sweet and gorgeous little man!!! He is getting cuter by the day, girl!

I can tell that he is a happy baby...look at those big eyes!

I have heard of the digital frame: it is an interesting concept indeed.

I can imagine Matthew trick or treating next year...so cuuuttteee! :)

Big hug to both of you!

Cheers

Bob you make me laugh, so what is it you don't have, and front of the TV, lol, smooth move.

I think all this colic thing is related to the fast growth and further develpment of the internal organs of babies. And it seems like the growth usually starts in the evenings. My mother told me that same was with the chickens, they always were making more noise and were more hungry starting 5 pm, lol.

About the animation, your reflective water thing is amazing, you lucky to have so much landscape to take pictures. In here subdivisions are taking over...its sad!

The digital frame thing I did in Photoshop Image Ready. If you have photoshop you probably have image ready add on. It is all about frames, and layers...if you have photoshop, let me know I will give you tips....

Thanks again for nice comment.

Anna :)

Thanks Max for always nice comments. Yes Matthew is a very happy baby, and he makes us very happy also. He always wakes up with a big smile on his face, its good, because waking up early in the morning to a big smile like that is much easier, lol. I cannot really complain, Matthew is such a good baby. Now he is exploring the world around him, and reaching out for everything. And he reads books too, lol, the other day he recognized his 'sun' toy in the book, as he started to pound and smile on the area where the sun was...Oh I can just talk and talk about him, but I better go, its getting late, lol. Thanks Max again, Anna :)
